AI Policy

Why this policy exists

Little Story Keepers™ uses artificial intelligence and related automated technologies to help create personalized children's storybooks from the photographs, story details, and other content customers choose to provide. This AI Policy explains, in plain language, how we use AI, what AI does and does not do, how customers remain responsible for review and approval, how we protect Uploaded Photos and Customer Content, and what choices customers have.

This Policy is intended to work together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Photo Licensing & Usage Policy, and Refund and Return Policy. Capitalized terms not defined in this Policy have the meanings given in our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict between this Policy and another policy, the Terms of Service control for contractual, order, limitation-of-liability, and dispute-resolution issues; the Privacy Policy controls for privacy, data-security, data-retention, and deletion issues; the Photo Licensing & Usage Policy controls for photo-license and customer-photo usage issues; and the Refund and Return Policy controls for refund, return, reprint, cancellation, and quality-issue resolution issues, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

At a glance

• AI helps create your Book. We use AI-assisted tools to generate story text and illustrations based on the photos, prompts, style choices, and story context you provide.
• You review before printing. Before final submission, you are responsible for reviewing all names, photos, AI-generated illustrations, narrative text, captions, page layouts, order previews, and shipping information.
• AI outputs may vary. AI-generated illustrations and text may differ from your original photographs, prompts, or expectations and may not be error-free.
• No AI model training on your content. We do not use Uploaded Photos, prompts, AI Illustrations, generated story text, order previews, completed book files, or other Customer Content to train, improve, or fine-tune AI models, and we do not authorize our AI vendors to do so.
• The Service is U.S.-only. Little Story Keepers™ is currently intended for and available only to customers located in the United States, and Books are shipped only to eligible U.S. shipping addresses.
• Marketing use requires opt-in consent. We do not use Uploaded Photos, AI Illustrations, book previews, completed book files, Customer Content, testimonials, names, likenesses, finished outputs, first name, or related non-sensitive order details for marketing, advertising, social media, portfolio, promotional, or similar purposes unless you provide explicit opt-in consent.
• Customer content must be lawful and appropriate. You may not upload content that is unlawful, unsafe, exploitative, sexually explicit, infringing, harmful to minors, or otherwise prohibited by our Terms of Service.

1. What we mean by AI

In this Policy, "AI" means artificial intelligence, machine-learning, generative-media, and other automated technologies that help create, transform, generate, screen, support, or process content in connection with the Little Story Keepers™ Service. AI may be used to assist with story text generation, illustration generation, style transformation, preview creation, quality support, safety filtering, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, and related operational functions.

AI is a tool we use to help provide the Service. It does not replace customer review, customer approval, parental judgment, legal rights in Customer Content, or the requirements described in our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Photo Licensing & Usage Policy, and Refund and Return Policy.

2. Ethical use commitment

Little Story Keepers™ is committed to using AI carefully, transparently, and only for the limited purposes described in this Policy. We will not use AI, Uploaded Photos, AI Illustrations, prompts, generated story text, order previews, completed book files, Customer Content, or related information for any AI purpose other than those expressly provided in this Policy, unless we update this Policy, provide any notice or consent required by applicable law, and comply with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Photo Licensing & Usage Policy, and Refund and Return Policy.

3. How we use AI

We use AI-assisted tools to help create personalized Books. Depending on the features available in the Service, AI may process Uploaded Photos, story prompts, names, ages, occasion details, style selections, and other Customer Content to generate or support:

• AI-generated illustrations based on Uploaded Photos and related prompts.
• AI-assisted narrative text based on story context information you provide.
• Book previews, captions, page layouts, and related creative outputs.
• Order support, troubleshooting, quality-issue review, reprint support, refund support, fraud prevention, security, and other operational functions.
• Content-safety and prohibited-content screening designed to help prevent unlawful, unsafe, exploitative, or inappropriate content from being created or fulfilled.

We currently use Anthropic for story text generation through its API and fal.ai for AI illustration generation through its API. We may update our AI vendors, service providers, or processing practices from time to time as our Service changes, and we will update this Policy, our Privacy Policy, our Terms of Service, or other applicable policies when our practices or legal obligations materially change.

4. What AI does not do

We do not use AI to identify a person, create biometric identifiers or face templates, perform facial-recognition matching, or determine sensitive traits about a customer, child, or other individual. Uploaded Photos may be processed to generate illustrations and support the Service, but they are not used for biometric identification. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide any notice or consent required by applicable law before engaging in such activity.

We also do not use Uploaded Photos, AI Illustrations, book previews, completed book files, Customer Content, testimonials, names, likenesses, finished outputs, first name, or related non-sensitive order details for marketing, advertising, social media, portfolio, promotional, or similar purposes unless you provide explicit opt-in consent through an optional marketing-consent checkbox or other consent mechanism made available in the Service.

5. AI model training

We do not use Uploaded Photos, prompts, AI Illustrations, generated story text, order previews, completed book files, or other Customer Content to train, improve, or fine-tune AI models. We also do not authorize our AI vendors to use that content for model training.

Based on our current vendor terms and documentation, Anthropic does not use API customer inputs or outputs to train its models, and fal.ai processes customer photos to provide the requested illustration-generation service and does not train models on raw customer data. fal.ai may use anonymized or aggregated usage data for service improvement where permitted by its terms. We require AI vendors that process Customer Content on our behalf to use that content only as needed to provide the requested service, comply with law, maintain security, or meet other limited contractual obligations.

6. AI data security

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect Uploaded Photos, AI Illustrations, prompts, generated story text, order previews, completed book files, Customer Content, and related information processed through AI systems. These safeguards may include encryption in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS), encryption of sensitive data at rest where appropriate, access controls limiting access to need-to-know personnel and service providers, security monitoring, vendor review, and contractual or policy requirements for vendors that process Customer Content on our behalf.

When AI vendors or other service providers process Customer Content for us, we seek to use arrangements that require them to process that information only as needed to provide the requested service, maintain confidentiality and security, comply with law, prevent misuse, and follow retention and deletion requirements reasonably consistent with our Privacy Policy and instructions, subject to applicable law and limited operational requirements.

No internet, cloud, vendor, or AI system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and residual copies may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or vendor systems before being overwritten or deleted through ordinary data-management processes. If we determine that a security incident involving AI-processed information requires notice under applicable law, we will provide notice to affected individuals and, where required, regulators or other authorities in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

7. Customer review and approval

AI-generated content may contain errors, unexpected details, style variations, omissions, or results that differ from the original photo, prompt, or customer expectation. Before submitting an order for printing, you are responsible for carefully reviewing all pages, names, photographs, AI-generated illustrations, captions, narrative text, spelling, grammar, layout, order preview, and shipping information.

By approving and submitting your order, you confirm that the Book and shipping information are approved as presented and authorize us to print and fulfill the Book as approved. Because each Book is custom-made based on the content and design you approve, approved customer errors or preferences, including typos, incorrect names, incorrect photo selections, low-quality uploaded images, layout choices, shipping-address errors, or dissatisfaction with approved AI-generated content, are generally not refundable or eligible for a required reprint unless required by applicable law or covered by our Refund and Return Policy.

You may request cancellation within one hour after placing your order if production has not begun, as described in our Terms of Service and Refund and Return Policy. After that window, and once an order is submitted for printing or enters production, it generally cannot be cancelled or modified.

8. AI-generated illustrations and likeness

AI-generated illustrations are created based on Uploaded Photos, prompts, style selections, and story context information, but they may differ from the original photograph and may not be error-free. They may reflect visual characteristics from the photo, such as hair, eyes, glasses, clothing, or other distinguishing details, but the final output is an AI-generated illustration and not a guarantee of exact likeness.

Small differences in brush texture, lighting, background detail, screen color, print appearance, character expression, or artistic interpretation are not defects unless the delivered Book materially differs from the final version approved for printing or otherwise qualifies as a covered quality issue under our Refund and Return Policy.

9. Customer content, rights, and permissions

You retain ownership of the photographs, images, text, and other content you upload to the Service, subject to the rights and licenses described in our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Photo Licensing & Usage Policy. Uploading Customer Content does not transfer ownership to us.

By uploading Customer Content, you represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights, licenses, permissions, and consents to use and authorize us and our service providers to use that content as described in our policies. If a photo includes a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have obtained all legally required permission from the child's parent or legal guardian. If a photo includes any other identifiable person, you confirm that you have any legally required permission to use that person's likeness in your Book.

10. User responsibilities

To help us use AI responsibly and safely, you are responsible for how you use the Service and for the Customer Content you provide. Without limiting our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Photo Licensing & Usage Policy, or Refund and Return Policy, you agree that you will:

• Provide only photographs, names, story details, prompts, text, and other Customer Content that you own or have all legally required rights, licenses, permissions, and consents to use.
• Use the Service only for lawful, personal, family, gift, and other noncommercial purposes, unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.
• Review all AI-generated illustrations, narrative text, captions, page layouts, names, photographs, order previews, and shipping information carefully before approving and submitting an order.
• Promptly correct or remove any Customer Content, prompt, or order information that is inaccurate, unauthorized, infringing, unsafe, or otherwise inappropriate before final submission.
• Not attempt to bypass, disable, interfere with, or misuse any AI system, content-safety filter, security feature, access control, vendor system, or other part of the Service.
• Not use the Service or AI outputs to create, request, upload, promote, or distribute unlawful, unsafe, exploitative, abusive, infringing, deceptive, harmful, or prohibited content.
• Not represent AI-generated illustrations, narrative text, or other outputs as human-created by Little Story Keepers™ or as guaranteed to be accurate, complete, error-free, or an exact likeness of any person.
• Contact us promptly if you believe an AI-generated output, order preview, completed Book, or account activity creates a privacy, safety, quality, intellectual-property, or other legal concern.

Your failure to meet these responsibilities may affect whether we can complete an order, provide a refund or reprint, honor a deletion request in the manner requested, maintain account access, or continue providing the Service, subject to applicable law and the rights and remedies described in our Terms of Service, Refund and Return Policy, and other policies. Consistent with our Refund and Return Policy, approved customer errors or preferences—including inaccurate prompts, incorrect names, incorrect photo selections, low-quality uploaded images, shipping-address errors, layout choices, or dissatisfaction with AI-generated content that was presented for review and approved—are generally not refundable or eligible for a required reprint unless required by applicable law or unless the issue qualifies as a covered quality issue.

11. Prohibited AI uses and content safety

You may not use the Service, AI tools, prompts, Uploaded Photos, Customer Content, or outputs to create, request, upload, promote, or distribute content that is unlawful, unsafe, exploitative, abusive, infringing, defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, graphically violent, harmful to minors, or otherwise prohibited by our Terms of Service.

Examples of prohibited content include, without limitation:

• Content that depicts or suggests child sexual abuse material, exploitation of minors, nudity involving minors, grooming, or any sexualized depiction of a child.
• Sexually explicit, pornographic, or adult content, including sexualized prompts, images, illustrations, or narrative text.
• Graphic violence, self-harm instructions, threats, abuse, harassment, hateful content, or content encouraging harm to any person or group.
• Content that impersonates another person, misuses another person's likeness, or includes images of a child or identifiable person without legally required permission.
• Content that infringes or may infringe third-party intellectual property rights, including copyrighted characters, branded artwork, logos, trademarks, or protected images, unless you have permission or another lawful basis to use them.
• Content that is deceptive, fraudulent, defamatory, unlawful, invasive of privacy, or intended to bypass safety, moderation, payment, account, or security controls.
• Malicious code, attempts to manipulate or reverse engineer the Service, or prompts designed to evade content-safety filters or produce prohibited outputs.
• Any other content that creates legal, safety, reputational, operational, or child-protection risk for Little Story Keepers™, our customers, service providers, or other individuals.

We may use automated tools, third-party safety filters, and other reasonable measures to detect or prevent prohibited content. We do not undertake to manually review all Customer Content. We may refuse, remove, suspend, cancel, or terminate access to the Service or any order containing prohibited content, apparent prohibited content, or content that we reasonably determine may violate our Terms of Service, this Policy, applicable law, or our safety standards.

If we become aware of Customer Content that may be illegal, exploitative, abusive, or otherwise prohibited, including content involving the exploitation or abuse of minors, we may preserve and disclose relevant information to law enforcement, regulatory authorities, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, service providers, or other appropriate parties as required or permitted by law, and may suspend or terminate accounts or orders associated with that content.

12. Privacy, retention, and deletion

Uploaded Photos, AI Illustrations, generated story text, order previews, completed book files, story context information, account information, order information, support records, and related Customer Content are collected, used, disclosed, retained, and deleted as described in our Privacy Policy and Photo Licensing & Usage Policy.

• Uploaded Photos are generally retained for 12 months after your last account activity, with the retention period resetting each time you log in, subject to limited legal, security, fraud-prevention, payment, customer-support, reprint, or operational requirements.
• Abandoned drafts and related Uploaded Photos may be deleted after 60 days of account inactivity.
• AI Illustrations, generated story text, order previews, and completed book files may be retained indefinitely while your account remains active to support future reprints, customer keepsakes, and continued access to your book library, unless you request deletion and no legal or operational exception applies. Retention may also continue where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, payment processing, accounting, tax, dispute resolution, customer support, reprints, protection of legal rights, or other legitimate operational purposes.

You may request deletion at any time by contacting support@littlestorykeepers.com or privacy@littlestorykeepers.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request," subject to verification and limited legal or operational exceptions.

13. Quality issues, refunds, and reprints

If your Book arrives damaged, defective, or with a printing, binding, shipping, production, or AI-generation quality issue attributable to Little Story Keepers™, our print partner, or our fulfillment process, we may, subject to reasonable verification, reprint and reship your Book at no charge, issue a refund, pursue a carrier or print-partner claim, or provide another appropriate resolution as described in our Refund and Return Policy.

If the delivered Book matches the final version approved for printing but you later decide you are dissatisfied with the AI-generated content, illustration style, likeness, design choice, or overall look, we generally cannot refund or reprint at our cost unless required by applicable law. We may, at our discretion, offer a discounted reprint, goodwill credit, or other accommodation.

14. Intellectual property and personal use

Your finished Little Story Keepers™ Book is your personal copy to read, keep, gift, photograph, share, and treasure for personal, family, gift, and other noncommercial purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, license, merchandise, or otherwise commercially exploit any Book, illustration, narrative text, design, Company content, standalone illustration, or character artwork without our express written permission.

Little Story Keepers™ retains its rights in the underlying story, illustration style, character artwork, software, design, and other Company content except as expressly permitted for your personal, noncommercial use. Your ownership of your original Customer Content does not give you ownership of the Service, software, templates, illustration styles, Company content, or other materials we or our licensors provide.

15. Changes to this AI Policy

We may update this AI Policy from time to time. If we update this Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date, post the updated version on our website, and, where appropriate, provide notice through the Service or by other reasonable means. For significant changes affecting how we handle photographs, children's information, Customer Content, AI processing, marketing consent, retention, deletion, or dispute-resolution terms, we may provide more prominent notice, including email notification where possible, and will obtain consent where required by applicable law. Changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise stated.

Your use of the Service remains subject to the dispute-resolution, arbitration, class-action waiver, limitation-of-liability, indemnification, warranty-disclaimer, and other terms in our Terms of Service.

16. How to reach us

A final note from our family

We use AI because it helps families create personal, imaginative Books that would otherwise be difficult or expensive to make. But the photos, names, stories, and memories you share with us matter. Our goal is to use AI carefully, transparently, and only in ways that support the Book experience you asked us to create. If anything in this Policy is unclear, please write to us. We will explain it plainly and improve it when we can.
